Former Chaparral HS Student Killed in DUI Crash

Aaron Ellison, 19, has been identified as the fatal victim of a suspected DUI crash early Sunday near Lake Skinner.

A 19-year-old Murrieta man was killed in a solo-vehicle car crash early Sunday, authorities said.

Aaron Ellison of Murrieta died when the car he was riding in went off the road at 2:58 a.m. Sunday at Borel Road and Buck Road near Lake Skinner, according to the Riverside County Sheriff-Coroner.

Ellison was ejected when the car lost control, left the roadway and rolled multiple times, according to the coroner's report. He was pronounced dead at the scene at 3:17 a.m.

The California Highway Patrol alleges the car, a 2006 Nissan Altima, according to The Press-Enterprise, was being driven by 20-year-old Ashly Nicole Rodriguez. According to jail records, Rodriguez was arrested on suspicion of DUI manslaughter. She was released on $75,000 bail later that day.

Two others suffered minor injuries in the crash and were transported to an area hospital for care.

Ellison was a student at Chaparral High School in Temecula, and was still working on completing his high school diploma, according to Melanie Norton, spokesperson for the Temecula Valley Unified School District. He was in the process of transitioning from Chaparral to the county-run Community Day School, she said.
