City Honors Academic Achievements of High School Seniors

The 25th annual Scholarship Banquet held Citizens' Scholarship Foundation honors Temecula seniors with various scholarships at the awards banquet to help further their education.

High school seniors from all three Temecula high schools -- , , and -- were honored for their outstanding academic achievements at a scholarship banquet on May 7 held by the Citizens' Scholarship Foundation of Temecula Valley.

The banquet was held in the evening in Chaparral's gymnasium for scholarship donors, recipients, family and guests.

The foundation consists of various local businesses and individual owners who give scholarships for different categories with various qualifications. The banquet honored 213 seniors for many scholarships, such as planning to major in healthcae, engineering, business and many more as well as for having an outstanding amount of community service hours amongst other things.

The scholarships were announced and awarded by the donors themselves or the principals of each respective high school, and each student's high school accomplishments were read by teachers from their schools.

The minimum monetary award given was $250, and the maximum award given was in the amount of $5,000.

Various local businesses and organizations, such as the PTA/PTSA's of various schools, The Boys and Girls Club, Christian Youth Theater, Pechanga Casino, 2K4Kids, The Rotary Club of Temecula and the Southwest Healthcare System staff, contributed to help the notable seniors achieve more to further their education, leading up to a grand total of 96 individual donors, clubs, organizations and businesses.
