Beaten motorist

I am curious to see what people think about the New Jersey motorist who was surrounded and beaten in front of his wife and child by a large group of renegade motorcyclists. I have seen many large groups of motorcyclists travelling on our freeways but have never heard of such a violent occurrence as this.
