Vote Paul Jacobs for Temecula City Council

Candidate Paul Jacobs asks for your vote.

The campaign trail has been a great ride and voters get to choose my destination. I humbly ask Temecula voters to complete the arrow next to “Paul Jacobs” for City Council on their ballot.

I am humbled because though friends and family have suggested I make a run for office in the past, I was compelled this year when I was asked by complete strangers equally frustrated with a lockstep City Council to throw my hat in the ring.

Since moving here in 1995, I have inadvertently racked up the experience and qualifications necessary to serve as a representative of the people on the Temecula City Council. I have previously served as chairperson on the Public / Traffic Safety Commission and as president of the Vintage Hills Planned Community Association.

As an advocate for public access to open government, I successfully overcame the resistance of the sitting Temecula City Council to increase time provided for public comments from two minutes to three. I also successfully advocated for free parking for the disabled and for people participating at Riverside County Board of Supervisors meetings.

My goals for a better Temecula include submitting a concurrent county, state and federal investigative inquiry into the entangled relationship between Granite Construction and the County of Riverside that forces Liberty Quarry upon our community. Public Safety is a greater priority than a business incubator in the old city hall. Temecula needs a police station to deliver essential departmental resources within our city. Please visit my Facebook page or website at www.pauljacobs4temecula.com

Once I started this campaign and people contributed their talent, time and money, I was obligated to throw myself in it to win. It has been an amazing and exhausting experience, but the campaign trail has been a great ride – as has my campaign trailer pictured above.

I am humbled by the people who came together to make this campaign happen and appreciative of the drivers and passengers who waved, honked, smiled, gave me the thumbs-up and other forms of encouragement when I have been waving on street corners with my banner and a volunteer or two.

Two things will change after Tuesday. I will no longer be a candidate. Instead, I will be a campaign sign hunter trying to hunt down all the signs I planted around town. I will also take an indefinite hiatus from blogging on Patch.

On Wednesday, I will either be fully retired again or have a new job as an elected employee of the people of Temecula.

Join me Tuesday somewhere near the Duck Pond after 3 pm until sunset to wave the few remaining signs we have left – unless I am stuck at the County fighting the agenda item to give Liberty Quarry fast-track approval. Fulfilling my civic duty is something I began long before being encouraged to run for city council.

Regardless of your voting choices, please go to the polls tomorrow and vote. Ballots are the currency of democracy and few acts are more valuable in a democracy than voting.

A vote for Paul Jacobs is a vote for the most liberal person to ever seek a seat in the city of Temecula. He was booted off the traffic commission because he could not work with staff and his colleagues. He is pro abortion, and an affirmed atheist and supports the redefinition of marriage to include 2 men or 2 women. He has violated his signed pelage to not use slander or innuendo in his campaign and has slandered his opponents. He cloaks himself in a garment of service but loves the ego of speaking at the podium. Do not vote for this man.
SPB November 05, 2012 at 09:08 PM
What does a man's stance on abortion or gay marriage have to do with their ability to effectively run a city? The answer is nothing, which is about as much credence anyone should give your sad denunciation of a respectable man.
Josey Wales November 05, 2012 at 09:30 PM
It has everything to do with it. Liberal ideology is more than just abortion, it will affect his decisions pertaining to our liberty, freedom and it will affect the city fiscally. If the last 4 years of this moron president hasn't shown you anything then I don't know what to tell you. Liberals have no business in positions of power. Liberalism is a failed ideology, just look at every state that is under the control of liberals, they are all bankrupt. Paul Jacobs has no business on the City Council here in Temecula, neither do the morons that already on it.
SPB November 05, 2012 at 10:37 PM
Liberal ideology? Please, the entire premise of the American liberal / conservative has become so convoluted that the only pure ideological players in politics are relegated to the fringes. People throw around 'isms' like they are political scientists yet haven't the faintest clue what it all means in real terms. Economically speaking, the Democrats and Republicans are siblings. They are both for free market systems and global trade, with their main disagreements coming over how small of a slice will we raise taxes on the rich in order to fund a safety net that would exist regardless of which party was in power. This whole "sky is falling" scenario some people have taken to over Obama's presidency is laughably absurd. The notion some people have right now that everything will be perfect if only we could do away with "liberalism" is childish and ignorant. I say that out of honesty, not spite. Classic liberalism means Universal suffrage, workers rights and free speech. To dispose of liberalism is to cry in wanting for despots who can do what they wish to you with no recourse. You've lost sight of the forest in search of trees Josey. The fact that you equate "liberalism" with the democratic party is like a bright blinking neon sign advertising your lack of knowledge in this regard. Show me how liberalism is a failed ideology and I'll be happy to correct any misconceptions you may have.

Josey, anyone who like Josey Wales is a friend of mine. His speech to 10 bears is a classic. You are right on above, with the exception of the incumbents. They are good men.
Paul Jacobs November 06, 2012 at 01:52 AM
Maryann (AKA Stan Shunpike), it is a shame you lie and hide under fake names. I belong to no political party because it divides these great "United" States of America. My friends on the Interfaith Council know more about my universal faith than you and they will tell you it is a sin to lie. I still have a great relationship with city staff, just as I did as a member and former chairperson of the Temecula Traffic Safety Commission -- and I was complimented on my service, even as I was not chosen to be reappointed because I do not bow to you and the other incumbents. The greatest shame is that you would be considered a role model for children or adults. Post under your real name. Stop being such a gutter-sniping coward!
The Republican November 06, 2012 at 02:10 AM
Normally I wouldnt support a Liberal but in the case of Paul Jabobs I make an exception. I do. I believe th at the Temecula council is totally corrupt . A vote for Paul Jacobs is so much better than a vote for Mike Naggar or Chuck Washington
Sam November 06, 2012 at 02:25 AM
Paul, You have my vote and I 'd like your opinion on who you endorse for the other vacant seat.Thank you and good luck tomorrow.
SPB November 06, 2012 at 02:27 AM
so this is the intellectual heft of one of our city council members? How.... unimpressive.
Paul Jacobs November 06, 2012 at 03:55 AM
Thanks Sam and The Republican! When I was involved in the SAVE R VOTE election integrity project I heard the adage, "We vote in private and we count in public." I take that as a vow. If people vote for me, I trust them to make another wise choice on the ballot.

I appreciate the efforts on the quarry, but I just can't support a candidate that apparently likes to hang out at police checkpoints and watch the police intimidate and scare law abiding citizens. On top of that, police departments are really good at bankrupting cities and I think Paul Jacobs would have no limits when it comes to his heroes.
Paul Jacobs November 06, 2012 at 07:21 AM
KB, I actually think my presence as a traffic commissioner countered your stereotypes. The officers and volunteers were always very respectful and in turn, those taken into custody were cooperative. I advocate a police Station to house the contracted Sheriff Dept. officers, not a police department. KB, I suggest you do a ride-along or see a DUI checkpoint for yourself. It might change your negative view of law enforcement.
bigmomma November 06, 2012 at 03:48 PM
I will be voting today for Mike Naggar. I know him personally and know his record. Both with merit. I wish I had the time to speak with others...but the crazy conspiracy theories I heard come from other canidents made me cringe.
Quincy November 06, 2012 at 09:16 PM
I just voted for you Paul. Good luck.
Romney-Ryan Republican November 06, 2012 at 09:36 PM
I voted for Paul an hour ago
Ponce de Leon November 07, 2012 at 01:30 AM
Good luck to you, Paul. You got two votes from our household. I could not vote for the incumbents or the two Tea Party/Agenda 21 people and didn't know much about the other guy at all.
Ponce de Leon November 07, 2012 at 01:31 AM
We would have voted for you twice each but couldn't figure out how to do it...
Long Time Temecula Resident November 07, 2012 at 06:14 AM
ouch! challengers go down hard...

Paul Jacobs are you a true baby killer who destroys human life . Have you ever witnessed an abortion or seen the baby scream as this helpless child is torn from the murderous mothers womb . Have you seen what a partiall birth abortion is . You are defined as a fine person but push murder wow.
SPB November 08, 2012 at 11:38 PM
So anyone who supports abortion is a baby killer? Would that make anyone who supports war a mass murderer?
Paul Jacobs November 09, 2012 at 12:07 AM
I am certainly not pro-abortion and I don't know anybody advocating abortion. Supporting freedom and personal liberty is not approval. I worked caring for people with severe birth defects for three decades. The people I cared for were God's children. People who wear God on their sleeves have made the most vile comments. What does that say of your true faith? Jesus was a healer, not a hater.
Long Time Temecula Resident November 09, 2012 at 06:13 PM
So jacobs says he in not a pro-abort but if I understand him correctly he is ok if others are? Also, I think it is safe to say that God did indeed "hate" certain things.
Long Time Temecula Resident November 09, 2012 at 06:14 PM
Paul..Why did you lose the election? Honest question.
tbone November 16, 2012 at 12:07 PM
I am speaking up for those unborn children . Thats who I am speaking up for . Abortion is murder . It is up to a mother and father to protect the very creation that GOD has intrusted them with . If it be that the baby is born out of wedlock or not . If the child or baby is going to be born with severe difficulties then it is up to the parents to trust in GOD to see what best fits this childs spiritual life . Its not up to the Murderous parents to decide that fate . Its GODs alone and his decision . You typical hypocrite . If you have worked with these speacial children then why would you advocate or endorse abortion . What for an election vote wow really . If you have worked with these type of children then you would know they are the most loving of GODs creatures ever created . These are the ones that GOD reserved for himself . With a world so full of evil is not GOD entitled to this beauty there souls which glows like an angel from heaven . But yet you have a right to take this away from GOD . So tell us now you want any vote you can get so thats why you refuse to defend the very babies that are murdered each and everyday .
tbone November 16, 2012 at 12:27 PM
KB I suggest you do a ride along or visit a DUI check point and see for yourself . Why for further mindcontroll to get another American to say this is ok . We all know these check points are illegal we all know that the boarder check points are illegal . Who in the hell actually answers these questions . Oh those who do not know their constitutional rights . Never would I answer these officials it is my GOD given right to travel from one point to another with out having to be bothered . I do not answere them if I am an American citizen I do not answere the police if they ask if I been drinking . The only thing I say is am I being detained and am I free to go . Unless you are truly guilty of wrong doing . You should exercise your rightes . Never consent to an unlawfull unwarrented search . Never make conversation while going though these unwarrented check points with the public servent or federal officer . Two words am I being detained and am I free to go .
