UPDATED: Woman Killed in Hwy 371 Crash East of Temecula

The crash was reported at about 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at Highway 371 and Lake Riverside Drive in Aguanga.

A 69-year-old Anza woman has succumb to injuries sustained in a crash Wednesday, east of Temecula, the coroner's office is reporting.

The two-vehicle crash reported at about 1:19 p.m. at Highway 371 and Lake Riverside Drive in Aguanga left two people injured, according to a report from Cal Fire/Riverside County Fire Department. One victim sustained minor injuries, but the second had to be airlifted from the scene with major injuries, the reported stated.

According to the Riverside County Coroner's Office, that second 69-year-old victim was driving an SUV when she veered into oncoming traffic and collided with a pick-up truck.

She was wearing a safety belt but had to be cut out of the wreckage and was airlifted to Desert Regional Medical Center. She was pronounced dead shortly after arriving, at 2:56 p.m. Her identity has not been released yet from the coroner's office.

The crash is being investigated by the California Highway Patrol.
