Update at 12:55 p.m.:

The forward spread of the fire was stopped by 12:35 p.m., but it was not contained, according to Cal Fire.

--

Two spot fires broke out Sunday in a wash behind Temecula Parkway and though one was quickly contained, the other began to grow, moving quickly toward a condominium complex on Kevin Place.

Residents became alarmed as the fire, reported about 11:45 a.m., at Canterfield Drive and Rein Court, moved toward the Temecula Creek Village condos at Kevin Place.

"It started as a little tiny fire ... the winds picked up ... it is moving towards the condos really fast," resident Kathryn Neal told Patch.

The first fire was contained at about a half-acre; the second necessitated five more engines and a helicopter crew, officials said.

No injuries were reported and no homes were threatened; evacuations had not been ordered as of 12:15 p.m., according to officials and scanner broadcasts.

Futher details were not immediately available.

Seems like that had to be arson or at least some kind of accident where a small fire got away from someone.

Lastnight someone on Overland was having a bonfire in their backyard in the gated houses. Not sure if connected but would not be surprised.

My guess is a homeless camp.
Rene September 3, 2012 at 02:22 am
Probably some homeless person careless with a cigarette

Good deal! It's always smart to blame the homeless every chance you get, especially with fires.
Adrian September 3, 2012 at 02:39 pm
Rene, maybe that homeless person was illegal! I bet that gets the old heart racing! My gosh, what if the illegal street urchin is also a democrat?! Wow, this just gets better. Now we have "patch proof" that Obama has conspired with La Raza to populate the streets of Temecula with castaways, bearing cigarettes and poised to burn down our culverts and creeks two acres at a time. Call the National Guard!

Also wanted to mention to Patch and give some cudos on how fast the Breaking news gets out, also the different array of pictures you are getting now. Also the follow up on articles/stories are spot on. Even when its a very sad follow up :/ you get it out there.
Thank you

Brenda, I was being sarcastic with Rene. I can't stand the jumping to conclusions on here when someone thinks an incident came be blamed on people of certain attributes. There was a fire, and Rene goes straight for the "smoking homeless" answer. I just thought I would join in with a little sarcasm to show how ridiculous that initial jump was. This is just an example of the phenomenon spreading on patch.

Ok Ok, LOL, and I didn't understand much of what you said which was funny in itself. Hope you got your point across, and I agree with this sudden influx of ahh "very nice stranger, comments" who are tearing our comment sections part and basically spamming them so they become 20 pages long with only 10 having to do with the actual acticle.

Actually Adrian, my sister and her husband live in the condos right next to the wash and there are in fact homeless people living in the wash. There was a fire a few months ago back there that was in fact caused by someone trying to cook something. The fire melted through the fence and came right up to the garages next to the wash. This fire was most likely again set accidently by a homeless person. Thankfully no one was hurt, but if you know the area, that is most likely the cause.

All comes down to getting the "GOLD" Balanced right in the big City Hall right? We areRead More broke we are broke! We have how many more million dollar residents, ranches, farms who pay taxes, how many more business's, triple, quadruple, on and on that pay taxes, and some very large business's at that for YEARS. Yet Murietta and Menifee with just the few they have can manage to not only put in side walks, AND ALSO ACTULLY Listen their residents, instead of call them names like Paul has been, concerns and respond to them. Hell we are just now getting some attention to our driving issues with running red lights, speeding, not stopping at stop signs, driving drunk, high, or wreeklessly causing deaths and serious injuries to walkers, bike riders, skate board, scooter riders, wheelchairs, motor bike riders, and other cars. But how many lives were lost or severly disabled until we just now the last 2 weeks have been giving traffic details for different areas, cell phone details, etc. Lucky to get some sidewalks finished in 10 years if someone doesnt figure out where our "Gold" is we all pay in. And stop calling names people at the City meetings to Paul or anyone else trying to get our City to do what its there for. By the time someone in your own family is killed they will be laughing at you for standing up asking for sidewalks right? Just like on the "Patch" comment areas, always calling names instead of sticking with your fellow Temeculites and getting us something DONE! Before we loose more lives
