Brenda, just one correction. the driver wasnt drunk. he was under the influence of marijuana; probably prescribed for a hangnail. let's legalize it so we can have more of this. my heart goes out to the family as well.

My condolences to her family. I truly wish people wouldn’t drink and drive. Ella lost her life and the suspect is not going to fare well, having killed someone while drunk driving.

@gordon; Where did you read the driver was under the influence of marijuana? The article read "She was hit head-on by a man suspected of drunken driving."

Lee, I think Gordon is just tossing in another issue that is hot in the news these days. Just another "under the influence" we need to wipe out and fast. I agree marijuana for death sentences illnesses, but not for all these smaller things they are giving it out for. It has went too far and people are driving while under the influence of it, but in this case it was Alcohol.

I also talked about this with my family when I read about it, and it just is one of those cases that sticks to your heart and mind. Hard to get over the thought of it, and the senseless death of this woman. And a criminal who will probably get 4 years Max and actually be in jail for 2 yrs. :/ which is the worse part. Involuntary Manslaughter. No, the moment someone takes a drink knowing they have to drive home or somewhere they KNOW that they could kill someone else. So it is premeditated, it was thought through that that booze was more important then someones life.

New updated article and it appears that Gordon is correct. The kid, 20 year old was hopped up on Pot. asldfklasdfjlasdkjf;lasdjf;lasdfj;lsdfjlsdj.

Let's not be moronic. DUI = Driving Under the Influence of ANYTHING legal or not. It can be prescription drugs, a blood-alcohol level below 0.08 percent or medical cannabis if it influences your ability to drive. Media should avoid the term "drunk driving" because people who consider themselves buzzed but not drunk are responsible for countless deaths every day.

thanks, Brenda. there was a larger article in today's Californian. and well stated Paul.
