Alleged Mugger Found Not Guilty

He was acquitted of charges of kidnapping, robbery, assault with a deadly weapon and burglary. He was convicted only of possession of drugs for sale.

 

A man who was accused of mugging a Temecula man in his garage was found not guilty.

Charles Andre Powell, 40, was charged with sneaking into the victim's garage as he got ready to leave for work, tying his hands with tape, beating him up and demanding money before running away.

Powell was arrested and jailed on charges of kidnapping, robbery, assault with a deadly non-firearm weapon, burglary and possession of drugs for sale.

He was found not guilty on Monday at the in French Valley of all the charges except drug possession, according to court records.

Powell is scheduled to be sentenced in a courthouse in Riverside on March 26.
