A Temecula man suspected of snatching a purse left unattended in a shopping cart has been arrested, a sheriff’s sergeant reported.
Friday at approximately 6:20 p.m., deputies from the Temecula Police Department responded to the report of a stolen purse from a business in the 29000 block of Rancho California Road. Through investigation, deputies learned the victim's credit cards had been used at businesses in the area, which led police to a suspect, reported Sgt. Dean Spivacke.
“The officers went to the suspect's residence where they located evidence linking [him] to the crimes,” the sergeant reported.
Aaron Covany, 30, of Temecula was arrested in the 42000 block of Monaga Road on suspicion of felony burglary, felony theft by forgery, misdemeanor petty theft, and other misdemeanor crimes.
Covany was booked into Southwest Detention Center and is being held in lieu of $5,000 bail.
The Temecula Police Department is reminding members of the public to lock their vehicles and be attentive to personal items.
