Annual CHiPs for Kids Toy Drive Starts Sunday

Toys can be dropped off at CHP's Temecula office and several other locations.

Toys for area children in need can be dropped off at the California Highway Patrol's Temecula office beginning Sunday.

New, unwrapped toys for the annual CHiPs for Kids toy drive can be dropped off at the office at 27685 Commerce Center Drive from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays from Sunday through Dec. 20, CHP Officer Nathan Baer said today.

Besides the CHP's Temecula office, toys will be collected at the following locations:

  • Tuesday, 5 to 7:30 p.m. at Chick-fil-A, 24794 Madison Ave., Murrieta;
  • Dec. 9, 3 to 7 p.m. at Walgreens, 18296 Collier Ave., Lake Elsinore;
  • Dec. 13, 4 to 6 p.m. at Walgreens, 160 Diamond Drive, Lake Elsinore;
  • Dec. 14, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Walgreens, 29910 Murrieta Hot Springs Road, Murrieta; and
  • Dec. 16, 3 to 7 p.m. at Walgreens, 33060 Antelope Road, Murrieta.

Toys will be given to local nonprofit organizations and charities, Baer said.
