Armed Robber on the Loose

Investigators are looking for a man who held up the Shell gas station on Margarita Road.

Authorities were seeking the public's help today in identifying a suspect who robbed a Temecula gas station.

The hold-up was at about 10 p.m. Thursday at a Shell station in the 42000 block of Margarita Road, according to Riverside County sheriff's Sgt. Will Edwards.

He said a man confronted a clerk behind the counter and simulated a handgun underneath his sweatshirt, demanding that the employee empty the cash register.

"The clerk complied, and the suspect left the location on foot with an undisclosed amount of cash,'' the sergeant said. No one was injured.

The robber was described as Hispanic, in his early 20s, about 5-foot-9 and 200 pounds, wearing a purple hooded sweatshirt, a black undershirt, red shorts and black sneakers. Anyone with information was urged to call the sheriff's Temecula station at 951-696-3000.
