Arrest Made in Fatal Oct. 20 Rancho California Road Crash

Christopher Bostic, 45, of Temecula, was booked on suspicion of two counts of felony vehicular manslaughter in the Oct. 20 crash that killed an elderly couple from Yorba Linda.

An arrest has been made in a Temecula crash that left an elderly couple dead.

Christopher Keith Bostic, 45, of Temecula, was arrested Sunday at Loma Linda University Medical Center on suspicion of two counts of felony vehicular manslaughter and one count of felony hit and run causing injuries in the Oct. 20 crash, a sheriff's official said Monday.

Amar Jain, 74, and Cheryl Jain, 66, of Yorba Linda were both pronounced dead at the scene of the Oct. 20 crash at Rancho California Road and Jefferson Avenue.

Bostic, who suffered major injuries in the crash, was transported Sunday from LLUMC in Loma Linda to the Riverside County Regional Medical Center jail ward, Temecula police Sgt. John Magnan said Monday in a news release.

Bostic was being held on $140,000 bail, jail records showed.

At about 3 p.m. Oct. 20, Bostic was allegedly driving a 2006 Hyundai westbound on Rancho California when he is suspected of entering the intersection at Jefferson against a red light, Magnan said.

Bostic allegedly struck a 2008 Hondra CRV driven by the Jains, who were making a left-hand turn to travel east on Rancho California, Magnan said.

The Hyundai and the Honda CRV were found resting on their wheels in the eastbound lanes of Rancho California Road, Magnan said.

"This investigation is still ongoing and alcohol and/or drugs do not appear to have been a factor in this collision," Magnan said.

Anyone with information that would assist the officers investigating this collision was encouraged to call the Temecula Police Department's Traffic Division at 951-696-3000.

Ignore the bible belters, for they know not whet they be talking about at all.

@ "On the right side" FYI - I stated that I think he should be tried for murder, I stated, BEFORE YOU, that I'd love to be called for jury duty - and guess what?! I'm a Democrat!! Yes, thats right, the people you call "libs" and love to insult, actually might think similar to you on occasion. Would you like help removing that foot now?
Gandhi November 06, 2012 at 04:44 AM
What are you talking about "Voice of Reason"? Am I missing someones comments here? Where does anybody mention a DUI???? Are you actually chastising us here? Do you have any idea what you're babbling on about, cuz we sure dont!

5150 - Grow up and educate yourself!! This is no place for your foaming at the mouth political diatribe, we're not interested.

Hey jackass democrat what do you think about the Obamanatipn lying about the Libya mess , what a despicable president we have, biggest liar ever .
On the right side November 06, 2012 at 05:40 AM
Garden, read again what I said. I DID NOT mention democrat. I used the term lib. You're the one that made the connection. In my mind libs and Democrats are two vastly different ideologies. Maybe I'm wrong.

5150 you are unbelievably rude and ignorant. When you grow up, you will learn how to speak to someone else without resorting to the infantile habit of name calling. I will not speak with you again,I have better things to waste my time on. Yvonne - if you re-read the article it states: " alcohol and/or drugs do not appear to have been a factor in this collision," Magnan said.

I totally agree with you Gard and Michael and On the right side. Unfortunately whoever made these laws didnt cover automobile deaths due to wreckless driving. committing infractions ie like running a red light or stop sign, cutting across 3 lanes of traffic on the 15 to exit on Winchester! So we end up with dead bodies, and felony vehicular manslaughter charges against the suspect. This was no accident and it seems he was on a suicide by traffic run or something like it. It is a wonder that more were not killed or seriously injured. As with DUI's, I believe it should also be murder as the driver set out before the first drink knowing he would be driving and at some point this Christoper Bostic knew he was going to drive like this and people would get killed. ***Note***The lady in the SUV should get felony involuntary manslaughter for running the red light and killing the young marine over a month ago now, and why have we not seen her charged yet? Double standard Prosecutor's? But the sentencing is less then it should be also, which leads to the 2nd problem. Murder someone, get charged, get sentenced 4 years and serve 1 or 2. Or none. You are right Gard, unless he is a handicapped, he did know exactly what he was doing and why, before hand and it should be premeditated murder. Michael, I am not all up on death penalty anymore, but I definately believe the sentence should reflect the seriousness of the crime.

Read back through the articles Voice of Reason and you will get a better understanding of the course of his "driving" that day and all that ocurred during his wild ride. Any adult driving a vehicle knows if they drive like that they are going to kill someone, or its a darn good chance they will kill someone or seriously hurt them. If they do not realize they are missing some brain wiring and should NOT ever been given a drivers license. As Gard says below, when you run a red light you know damn well you might be taking a life of someone in another car of a person in the crosswalk. We know that driving like a maniac, running red lights, stop signs, speeding, cutting across multipe lanes at a time can cause accidents that kill people. You know that too right Voice? If you did any of these driving moves its a good chance someone could get killed right? The first incident he caused in the parking lot was completely related to this entire incident. He went from one spot to another within a few minutes causing damage all along the way and there is no way he could not have thought that people could get killed by his actions. Christopher killed The Jains in cold blooded murder with no concern for their welfare or anyone else he hit while on his Toads Wild Ride that no one even stood a chance of being able to avoid.

LOL............hehehehe. You guys are tough tonite and up way too late like me. But to close me out of this, if we dont start setting examples, and toughing up our laws and sentences for breaking them no one is going to worry about how they act, ie, DUis' driving wrecklessly, being on cell phones, carrying knives into a bars, assaults, shootings......and so on. If we dont, these people will keep repeating and repeating. Why do so many repeat? Because they know they will serve no jail time or very little, no biggie. Have a few drinks and they might be one of the 10 pulled over in Temecula that night. We are not doing anything more then giving them a "timeout" like a child.
Voice of Reason November 06, 2012 at 02:46 PM
Read back through the articles? So, everything in print is gospel? If it's in an article it's fact? You people amaze me. And as for the DUI comment, if some people weren't cowards and didn't delete their previous comments because they realized they were asinine, you'd see what I was responding to. I won't delete my comments because I know they make sense, unlike others here. And I will never believe that every single one of you high and mighty commenters has not run a red light before. What you all don't seem to understand is that felony vehicular manslaughter is the perfect charge for what Mr. Bostic did because it was NOT an accident that he ran that light. If it were, he would be charged with, AT MOST, a misdemeanor. People die in car accidents all the time and no criminal liability is attached. What makes your idiotic positions so unbearable is that you don't understand the concept of specific intent. Look it up. Then maybe you can calm down and understand the DA actually got it right here. Now let me get back to my happy life that isn't to be wasted following others comments and responding like juveniles.

Voice, TYPICAL BLEEDING HEART LIB who is afraid of the REAL world. Go ahead and live in your fantasy world. That's the easy way.
Temecula Jay November 06, 2012 at 05:48 PM
Agreed. Time to hold people TOTALLY responsible for their actions and discourage others from the same type of actions.
Temecula Jay November 06, 2012 at 05:56 PM
VoR, you don't seem to want to hold people accountable for their illegal actions. Hit and run and running a red light (at 65+MPH) directly resulting in the deaths of two innocent people. Sure, nobody believes that he intended this to happen but it was solely his actions that DID cause it to happen. What if it were your friends or family members that died? It's about time we hold criminals completely accountable.
MTS209 November 06, 2012 at 06:32 PM
T Jay, you hit the nail on the head, "Accountability"!! Not only do adults not want to be held accountable for their choice/actions......but, are raising a bunch of kids with out accountability.
Brenda November 06, 2012 at 08:42 PM
Voice when running a red light kills someone yes there should be more punishment then a ticket for running a red light. Also who does NOT KNOW THAT THE second you know you are running that red light that its a good chance you will hit another car or person? I know the few I have run I damn near closed my eyes because that is immediately what I thought in that second, while also looking for a way out in case someone did pull out in front of me. When I was taught to drive, thank god to my parents, I was taught to be defensive, always know where the out is if you can find one. I am constantly looking at all mirrors to know that if I have to slam on my brakes which direction I can go in. Believe me I would rather any day drive my car off the right side of the road or left side then drive 45 mph into another car. If drivers are aware of what is going on around them, not cell phoning or whatever, they will know this. But this man was deliberately putting ALOT of peoples lives in danger by his wreckless, crazy driving and hopefully we find out what his intentions were because it surely doesnt make a bit of sense to do something like this and kill two people for no damn reason. I have always been good about signal lights and slow down coming up on one in case it does change, and I got even more anal about it when I did actually get a red light camera ticket in SD. It was embarrassing as heck to have all the lights flash, and the 6 pics of me come in the mail. :/
Brenda November 06, 2012 at 08:53 PM
True 5150. All I am saying is we need stricter consequences, sentences for people that while in the commission of a infraction or traffic violations, running red lights, stop signs, driving wrecklessly, cross over more then 1 lane at a time, speeding, cutting off cars, etc. etc. that if that traffric violations leads to the death or injury of innocent people then they should be charged accordingly, equivilent to the murder of someone due to a drunk driver. Drunk drivers laws who kill, seriously injure someone also need to be harsher sentencing. They killed someone and get 4 year sentence? Involuntary Manslaugther for traffic violations that cause a wreck, and death, or injury to people. If to property, then a lighter sentence. Voluntary Manslaughter/murder for drunk drivers. We are all adults and know right from wrong. I watched a adult man run the red light at 79 Teme Pkwy at Margarita last Thursday around 1130am, going east. Black smaller truck with a box trailer also painted black, work set for a window washer, or gardener, window tinter, new screens something like that. All black and wish I could have seen the name of the company, but we were behind him. He literally was hauling butt down Teme. The light changed to RED, and he literally punched it approximately 8 to 10 car lengths to continue thru the RED LIGHT. I covered my face, but thank God there was no one in that second going North and South on Margarita. God knows how many he would have killed.
Brenda November 06, 2012 at 08:55 PM
Right, and its NOT an accident when you hit someone and kill them. You know when you take that first drink you are going to drive or not. You make that ignorant decision and kill someone you certainly deserve more then a sentence of 4 yrs and maybe serve 2 of those. After all we are adults and know what is right and wrong, dont we?
Brenda November 06, 2012 at 09:01 PM
Voice, WE know what the laws ARE. WE KNOW what charges, sentences will be put down. However what we are voicing here is that THOSE ARE NOT SUFFICIENT, we need stricter laws for both DUI's, and traffic tickets, infractions that cause a wreck that injures or kills other drivers or pedestrians. If you read the comments you would know that is what we are talking about, not arguing with what he is being charged with by the DA, but what he SHOULD BE being charged with in our opinions and feelings. The current laws, punishment for killing innocent people with your car are not comparable to the loss of those lives. If you had someone killed by someone punching it to get through a red light, and she/he got charged with involuntary manslaughter and got out of jail in 2 yrs or less and you feel that is sufficient punishment then that is how you feel. Some of us feel differently.
Brenda November 06, 2012 at 09:05 PM
Correct Jay, and if need be change the current laws to include a more severe charge when comitting a traffic violation(other then DUI) and in the commission of that traffic violations/infraction you kill or injury people and or property. The penalties/charges for these and for DUI's are not nearly enough, maybe 4 yr sentence, and maybe serve 1 to 2 years. Still wondering why the Gal in the RED Suv hasnt been charged yet with killing our Marine a month ago while in the act of running a red light. Hmmm...has anyone heard of updated information on this one?
Brenda November 06, 2012 at 09:19 PM
Spot on too MTS. Basically the charges, penalty, punishment, actual time served for a DUI and/or traffic violation,s either Felony or Misdemeanor, that kill or seriously injure people in cars or pedestrians are non existant in my book. Serving 1 or 2 years for killing someone, while doing a unlawful act that ADULTS as well as teenagers know is illegal IS NOT SUFFICIENT for taking lives or making someone a virtual vegetable. KIds will not start being accountable when they see their own parents doing these things and getting off or only doing jail time for a year. If an adult running a red light, driving through parking lots, on the road hitting other cars on his way to his final destination, resting where he just killed two grandparents, cannot be held accountable, who can? Accountablility is not serving a year or two in jail, if even THAT. Even with the ages of my daughters, I show or tell them about these articles, and when I am in the car with them, remind them to slow coming to an intersection, not speed up, just in case the light changes and then she can stop safely. To be extremely watchful of spots to get out of the way on our 8 mile stretch of Hell's Freeway. Drive in the outer lanes to have a spot to go if you have to. They might not like Mom the backseat driver at their ages, but I know they will think about every article I tell them about and that counts.

Voice, most openly display ignorance on a grand scale. It is my belief that they specifically intend to because it is a pleasurable state of bliss. With information so readily available today it would stand to reason that ignorance would be extinct.

On the blind side, said- 'Should be MURDER!!!!!' 'He committed a deliberate act' 'Anytime you behave like he DID, you are intending to cause harm!!!' ================================== Like this guy: http://www.wral.com/news/local/story/7554042/ Raleigh police cited an officer for running a red light before a wreck in downtown Raleigh Wednesday. ====================================== On the blind side, said- 'I hope that I get picked for jury duty. HANG EM HIGH!!!!' ================================== I sure you will --- go get 'em tiger............

You're pretty "typical" too right side, for YOUR type. lol
Gandhi November 08, 2012 at 08:16 AM
I have never in 30 years of driving run a red light, believe what you choose to. Never judge others by your actions. Some of us actually do take responsibility for everything we do every day, believe it or not. Yes, I agree totally with your idea of the punishment in this case, of course, he knew perfectly well what he was doing and the risk of killing was obviously there, he was not intoxicated, so we can't even say he may have lack of judgment. I think we are on the same page, but as I stated, there are actually many people who do NOT run red lights, ever, seems like a lot of people do around here though, doncha wish the cops were actually out at one of the 8 major intersections at prime time so they could start earning their pay? I do.
Gandhi November 08, 2012 at 08:17 AM
No, that honor belongs to Bush actually! ;)

Still wondering what happened to the Gal in the big SUV with her child in the car with her, who ran the red light down on Rancho and plowed into the driver side door of the Marine, age 25, who was killed?? Has Everyone been told to be mum on this case while she has NOT been arrested? Got to be fair all around for ALL who run red lights that kill innocent drivers. Inquiring minds want to know who care.
