Balloon Hits Power Lines, Rain Prevents Sparks

Nine people escaped uninjured when a hot air balloon came down near somebody's home hitting power lines.

Heavy rains prevented a fire from breaking out when a hot air balloon crashed into power lines in Wine Country, a fire official said.

The balloon was carrying nine passengers when it came down next to somebody's house in the 39000 block of Camino del Vino around 8:30 a.m. on Saturday, KTLA-5 reported.

"I saw it all from my backyard," neighbor Sara Hostetler told KTLA. "The balloon was coming down, and my dog was barking for me to come outside when I saw them trying to lift, and they hit the wire."

The rains prevented the wires from sparking, a fire official told KTLA.
