Update at 3:13 p.m.:
The cause of a non-injury fire that started in a scrap pile at a recycling center outside Temecula was under investigation Friday afternoon.
It took about 18 firefighters 20 minutes to knock down the flames but overhaul was expected to take about two hours, according to Murrieta fire Battalion Chief Mario Monroy.
"We're going to have extensive overhaul," because of the amount of collected materials at the center on Date Street.
Firefighters were going to use foam to "penetrate the material a little bit better," Monroy told Patch.
A fire was reported Friday at a recycling center just north of Temecula, authorities said.
The fire at SA Recycling, at 41400 Date Street, just off Jefferson Avenue, was reported just before 1 p.m., according to the Caliifornia Highway Patrol.
