UPDATE at 3:47 p.m.: More details have been released regarding the body found Wednesday morning in French Valley.
According to a Riverside County Coroner's Office file, the deceased was that of a 27-year-old Winchester man found with an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head.
The body was discovered at the north shoulder of Pat Road, at the intersection of Black Berry Way, by a driver who was passing by the area at approximately 5:45 a.m., confirmed Deputy Albert Martinez.
The coroner's office has not released the man's identity, pending notification of next of kin.
A time of injury and definitive cause of death have not yet been released by the coroner's office.
ORIGINAL POST: An adult male was found dead early Wednesday morning in an open area off a dirt road in French Valley, a Riverside County sheriff’s deputy has confirmed.
The body was spotted by a driver who was passing by the area of Pat Road at approximately 5:45 a.m., confirmed Deputy Albert Martinez.
According to Martinez, the body was found on the north side of a dirt portion of the road.
The case is being investigated as a possible suicide, but foul play has not yet been ruled out, Martinez said.
At press time Martinez could not confirm any road closures, but said investigators were still on scene.
