Three separate brushfires sparked Tuesday by artillery training on Camp Pendleton has been contained, Camp Pendleton Fire Department reports. The fire scorched more than 200 acres.
No injuries or structural damage was reported.
The fire was nearly three miles northwest of the air station and moved northeast. Smoke could be seen throughout the southern portion of the base but communities on base were not in danger, the base told residents on Facebook.
Assets fighting the fire included one fixed wing aircraft, one helicopter and four strike teams from Camp Pendleton, as well as other local jurisdictions.
The base was holding controlled burns this week to prevent wildfires.
