1. Watch, hold, put a leash on your child if they still like to take off. I would have never said ok to a leash back when I was raising my girls, but now at this point anythng that saves a life do IT. 2. Drivers, be careful, be aware, especially in parking lots, residential streets, no matter what the speed limit is. In my neighborhood because we do have so many of all ages out playing, running out behind cars on bikes, skateboards, and some impossible to see if sitting on the skateboard, I go about 8 mph. But I see other drivers come flying around off of Margarita onto our culdesac, then make a right on the next street up to get further into the area, with no thought to all the kids out playing. I cringe 50x's watching these people as I am out there with my grandson waiting for a child to get hit :/ Its everyones part to keep children safe, or anyone walking for that matter of any age, drive carefully, do not speed or drive wrecklessly, even on the streets and freeways. Watch yourself as much as you can while you walk, your children are with you, keep them in the stroller even if they don't like it!! We all have to work together on all these vehicle deaths we have been having, including pedestrians on bikes, skateboards, motorcycles, and now this baby. This is a small City, this many should NOT be happening in town, on the freeway, parking lots, no way.
I will pass this accident on in church so maybe prevention can be talked about more.
It happen right in front of my eyes he said to me! I heard the sound the body been hit! I turned around and see the body under the car he told me! I don't even know this child but man It affected me to the point that I can't sleep! my grandfather killed a 5 year old that came out of parked cars, it was instant death! my grandfather was affected so bad he ended up in a mental hospital to treat his mental trauma! the 5 year old father came to see my grandfather to make him feel better letting him know it was his foult for letting his child unattended. This should be a lessen to all drivers out there keep your eyes open at all times Temecula is to busy and TRAFIC is getting really bad! with that said I will try to rest now good night..
People actually honk there horn or yell because they think they have the right away???? Did they not have to read traffic law before getting drivers license or are they giving them away at DMV, buissest non 4 way stop
Of city hall , they have them every where in old town except the busiest intersection that has , Madeline's burges, edge, sweet shop you see frustrated families at the curb standing there for minutes as cars blow through, this is not rocket science.... Put a damn 4 way stop in front street is not a short cut for a poorly designed road way
It is not possible to protect everyone at all times under all circumstances. I am saddened by this event.
YES they are. It does not take much skill to receive a DL in order to wield a multi-ton object around. Safety and Liberty intersect here. Full safety requires banning the automobile. Liberty will not allow that.
Temecula has some of the rudest drivers I've ever encountered. Many get impatient when they have to wait for someone to back out of their parking spot or driveway. Many honk if you take two seconds to go when a light turns green. Nobody lets you merge in front of them, being cut off is the norm. I live off Margarita and many people go too fast in a residential. When I drive the speed limit or lower in my neighborhood I get tailgated, honked at and sometimes even yelled at. They pass me and race off as if we were on the I-15. They act as if kids should not be out in their own neighborhood playing and are inconvenienced when they have to wait for them to cross the street in a crosswalk. Often times they don't even wait for the kids to get out of the crosswalk before entering the intersection. People need to realize we live here and start acting like a community. Show some compassion for your neighbor and practice acts of kindness when on the road.
Hett, just trying to get on and off of Margarita in my car is taking my life into my own hands. Its nearly impossible even with the lights changing because everyone is flying the second the lights turn green, and sliding thru all the red lights, so there is NEVER a break in that Margarita traffic. Then add the mall, all the restaurants, the school students, Lowes..........and yes the attitude of our drivers. Like someone said above, rude, driving fast, texting, whatever else they can do while driving, speeding, wreckless with no care that they might kill a child or someone else in the next few minutes because they are not paying attention. As I said higher up, I have never lived in such a small city, this is the first, and I have never in my life seen so many deaths by auto's. Whether its drunk drivers, wreckless, freeway mess, all of them and there must be a reason? Speed limits? Traffic going thru town to avoid freeway?
I'd also like to add that we need to get involved if we really want change. I do think the conversation here and elsewhere is great, but I doubt local officials are reading comments in our local papers. Attend meeting and call or email our council members. Make your voice heard. Get involved!
The motorcycle rider was clockwork, 630am flying through here. Called PD, they had him the next morning, he was cuffed(think he got a wreckless driving in there)and he has not riden the motorcycle since expect to blast through the nieghborhood once in a while fast, and then parks it before cops get here. RAWR. Making sure we know he is still here. But at least he will not hit someone walking to school. I will let you know if anything happens with this gal. I cant waits, its been 2 years just trying to stop her and ask her nicely to slow down "see all the 20+ kids playing Lady"???
I think this idea isa good one TVOR if I had all day to stand out there and wait for her to come in or out :/
The parents are driving down Winchester and STOP in the slow lane to pick them up from the sidewalk area, to avoid parking etc.!!! Also the kids running across Winchester getting to their parents car waiting in the slow lane, or driving very slowly for the kid to get to the car!!!!!!! I cannot believe I have forgotten to mention these serious and dangerous stunts that the parents pull and have the kids do it, all to avoid parking in the mess, getting in and out of the mess of traffic. And ya know, I NEVER see police presense after school, or before school for that matter to catch all the kids standing outside of Riteaid finishing their power drink with vodka in it. :/ Parents are oblivious sometimes of even putting their child in danger and will do it just to save a sec stuck in traffic. I agree, more patrols, more on the main drags where the speeding is the WORSE and wreckless driving. I see an officer when they are speeding all together up Margarita, err down too for a call. Otherwise, dont see em./
