A coroner's report identified a 44-year-old woman killed in a traffic collision at about 3:30 p.m. Friday, just south of Temecula.

A 44-year-old Corona woman was killed Friday just south of Temecula when the SUV she was riding in rolled over, a coroner's report confirmed today.

Maria Herrera De Altamirano was pronounced dead at 3:30 p.m. on Interstate 15, south of Temecula Parkway.

She was the passenger in a 2002 Ford Explorer being driven by a 47-year-old Corona man. The SUV was traveling northbound on the freeway at about 3:20 p.m., going about 75 mph, when traffic abruptly slowed, catching him by surprise, said CHP Officer Ron Thatcher.

"As the Ford rolled, the right front seat passenger was partially ejected and sustained massive head trauma, causing fatal injuries at the scene,'' Thatcher said.
