Crash Closes 215

All lanes were blocked and traffic was backed up for miles due to a three-vehicle crash.

UPDATE: Information about the freeway being reopened was added at 10:33 p.m. Tuesday.

A three-vehicle crash caused CHP to close down Interstate 215 today.

The crash was reported at 6:04 p.m. on the northbound side of the freeway just south of Murrieta Hot Springs Road.

All northbound lanes were closed, and a tow truck was called to pull a vehicle that witnesses reported had hit a guardrail and plunged into a ravine, according to a CHP dispatch log.

The road was reopened around 7 p.m., according to the log. Information about what caused the crash and the conditions of the victim or victims was unavailable.
