Crash on 215 Leaves Person Dead

The crash was reported around 7:30 a.m., and officials closed the freeway for more than three hours today.

A motorcyclist was killed in a four-vehicle crash on Interstate 215 in Murrieta today, a fire department spokesman said.

The accident was reported around 7:30 a.m. on southbound I-215 near the Murrieta Hot Springs Road onramp. The motorcyclist, a man in his late 30s, was pronounced dead at the scene, Murrieta Fire Department spokesman Matt Corelli said.

It was unclear how many people were involved, but no other injuries were reported, Corelli said. Authorities closed the freeway for more than three hours, reopening lanes shortly before 11 a.m., according to the CHP, which is continuing to investigate the crash.
