8/27 UPDATE at 9:57 a.m.: A truck driver towing a horse trailer crashed off the side of the road and down an embankment in Temecula Wine Country.

The incident was reported to Cal Fire/Riverside County Fire Department at 8:05 a.m. Monday at Glen Oaks Road and Camino Del Vino.

The driver and horse escaped with minor injuries, according to Cal Fire/Riverside County Fire Department spokeswoman Jody Hagemann.

It took more than an hour to free the horse because Hagemann said the trailer was in a precarious position.

"I don't think the horse is injured too badly," she said.

Precarious indeed. Takes a lot of practice towing, backing up trailers to be good at it or these things tend to happen. And stay in practice. Glad to hear everyone horse and driver are good to go again.

I saw that on my way to work! All I could see were the tires up in the air. I hope the horse is going to be ok. Very scary!

My horse was the one involved in the accident. Her name is Katie. She recieved stitches on her right side and cuts to both of her hind legs below the hock. I can't say enough about trailer boots. She had the front ones one and recieved minor cuts. She didn't have the back ones on and recieved cuts. This mare waited patiently for rescue, THANK YOU to all that responded to my baby. The driver is doing well.

I sure hope a vet was called to scene as a paramedic is called for a human.....
