A Temecula dentist pleaded not guilty to having sex with a girl he coached in gymnastics.
David Martinus Reiakvam, 42, was charged with unlawful sex with a minor, lewd acts on a child younger than 14 and oral copulation with a minor, according to court records.
He appeared in a Riverside court Tuesday to enter his plea. His arraignment was originally scheduled for Dec., but he missed the hearing due to being snowed in while on vacation, his attorney told a judge.
Reiakvam, who is free on $50,000 bail, runs Reiakvam Family & Cosmetic Dentistry, 28910 Rancho California Road, though he lived in Riverside when the incident happened.
An investigation on the defendant began last year, and he was arrested on Nov. 2, according to Detective Wayne Ramaekers.
The dentist also coached gymnastics at a privately owned facility in Riverside, though police declined to name the gym. They also declined to say over what period of time the alleged molestations took place.
If convicted of all charges, Reiakvam could face 21 years in state prison.
