Deputy Involved in Accidental Shooting Serves Time for DUI
He pleaded guilty to drunken driving and is sentenced to 20 days in jail.
A sheriff's deputy involved in an accidental shooting as serving time today for driving while drunk in Temecula.
Mark Buelna, 27, of Menifee, initially pleaded not guilty, but changed his plea last week and was sentenced to 36 months of summery probation and 20 days in custody, according to John Hall, a spokesperson for the District Attorney's office.
He is also the target of a law suit stemming from an accidental shooting, according to court records.

Buelna accidentally shot himself and a friend, Richard Strehl, in July of 2010 while driving through Temecula with his friend, the record states.
The incident came after a night of drinking at the Beer Hunter in Menifee and at the and in Temecula, according to the Press-Enterprise.

Less than a year later in April, Buelna crashed his truck on Highway 215 in Perris while drunk. He had a blood alcohol level of more than .15 percent, according to court records.
