DNA Identifies Human Remains Found Near Temecula as Hemet Man

Partially buried remains found Nov. 30, 2012 in Aguanga southeast of Temecula by a hunter have been identified as those of Joseph Glen Charter, 56, of Hemet.

The human remains found in November 2012 near Temecula were identified Wednesday as those of a Hemet man.

DNA evidence was used to positively identify the remains as 56-year-old Joseph Glen Charter, according to Riverside County sheriff's Sgt. Tyson Voss.

A hunter reportedly discovered the partially-buried remains Nov. 30, 2012 about two miles southeast of the 45000 block of Highway 79 South, in Aguanga.

"Charter was not reported as a missing person; however, his family has not been in contact with him for approximately two years," Voss wrote in a news release.

The Sheriff's Central Homicide Unit continues to investigate the case, and is seeking the public's assistance. Anyone with information concerning the investigation was encouraged to contact Investigator Corey at 951-955-2777 or Investigator Dickey at 951-696-3000.
