TEMECULA, CA -- The father of a 15-year-old girl accused in connection with an alleged baseball bat beating in a park has also been implicated.
David Ray Mills, 35, of Temecula has been charged with attempted murder, assault with a deadly weapon and felony vandalism in the Jan. 13 attack, court records show. Mills is charged alongside Andre Dickerson Jr., 20, also of Temecula.
Dickerson and the teen girl were arrested Jan. 18 at the girl’s residence following an initial investigation.
An arrest warrant approved Jan. 31 for Mills breaks down the events that led up to the alleged beating at Kent Hintergardt Memorial Park that left a 20-year-old man seriously injured.
Mills, Dickerson and the girl allegedly conspired to send a text message at about 10 p.m. Jan. 13, inviting the victim to the park. This occurred after the girl told them earlier in the day the victim had raped her twice in November 2012, Riverside County sheriff’s Investigator David Gorlicki wrote. The girl told investigators she drank vodka prior to the alleged rapes, that she was “passed out” and that both incidents were “against her will.”
The girl, a female friend of hers, and Mills and Dickerson walked to the park to meet the victim, who showed up at about 10:30 p.m., driving his mother’s minivan, Gorlicki wrote.
The girls summoned the victim to the restroom area, and asked him to wait as they used the restroom, Gorlicki wrote.
At the prompting of the girl, Dickerson, who had been hiding nearby, began assaulting the victim with a wooden baseball bat.
The bat was brought by the girl to the park, Gorlicki wrote.
The victim told police he was hit approximately 10 to 15 times with the bat before Dickerson stopped and began smashing the windows of his mother’s car.
The beaten victim drove home, where his mother found him sitting in the driveway. He was treated a short time later at Rancho Springs Medical Center in Murrieta for injuries that included five head lacerations, a torn left eardrum, a knocked-out tooth, a broken shoulder and a broken hand, according to the warrant statement.
In an interview on Jan. 18, Mills allegedly changed his previous story and admitted to hiding behind a dumpster, “where he watched the entire incident with the use of a scope,” Gorlicki wrote.
The girl, and eventually her father, admitted to walking home from the park and “acting like nothing happened,” according to the warrant statement.
Dickerson, who pleaded not guilty Jan. 23, remains jailed in lieu of $1 million bail. Mills has yet to be taken into custody, a search of sheriff’s jail records on Friday revealed.
The rape allegations are being investigated, Gorlicki wrote.
It was unclear if the girl’s friend, also a minor, will be charged in the case.
More and more trials of minors are being conducted with the minor being tried as an adult. The question that goes through my mind when the law does that is this. Supposedly, one big reason minors are not allowed to consent to sex is because their (immature) minds cannot assimilate the consequences of their actions. If, in the case of sexual activity these "precious" little minds can't put it all together, how is it that the law (or those prosecuting on behalf of the law) can determine that these "immature" minds can assimilate the consequences of other criminal activities? I have always found that to be an interesting standard that our society uses. In one case, these young people aren't held accountable, but in other, more serious and potentially more devastating circumstances, these young people can and are (in many cases) held accountable as adults. Any thoughts on that particular pondering?

You of course would see the hypocrisy in it, "alleged, rape" when there was never a report, medical eval. police report, investigation, arrest, charges by the DA for a rape trial, conviction for the victim of the attempted murder. However, per these articles, the police lay out their statements and charges for the press and in return its printed for us to read and then comment on. There are NO rape charges to respond to or comment on, except to "speculate" by the testimony given by the young woman, on her actions, statements. You have done here also along with us and I believe that is part of communicating thoughts, ideas or "stands" in a comments sections. If you read Kyle's note under this reply he states the "facts" of this case perfectly.
If my daughters had had one 20 yr old man as a friend at 15 they would have been locked up, phones gone, computers gone, supervised everywhere, but 2??? They would have been living out in the middle of Arizona with grandparents being homeschooled and shoveling animal poop for fun.
I have been overprotective and had probably daily talks with my children on keeping themselves from predators through the years, and even still with my oldest of 28. There are many scenerios with this girl and of course the whole truth would be nice but SHE is the only one who knows that from ALL sides. Even the beating victim doesnt. Its a wonder this young man is alive and Thank God for that, and I hope he does not have any permanent damage. If later on positive information was gathered by the police to present a case to the DA for him raping her, then that will be a new article.
A rape of a child, woman can change her life forever, all of her life and the predator is in and out in 2 years and on to acquire more victims AGAIN.
Its unfortunate that IF, and that is a big IF this man did rape her, and he is charged, that he did not know well enough to leave these little 15 year old con artists ALONE. These girls, if they do not get what they want do know how to work the system, and definately do not piss them off especially if you are over 18 and not going to help her get away from Daddy. Keep it in your pants guys!! Guys need to be smarter seriously if you are being pursued by a young girl or if she promises you that everything is ok with her, that she will never tell, and that she loves you or WHATEVER. RUN and RUN FAST! Same for girls. Dont be out drinking vodka and passing out at two different times. Who was that who raped you again? Do not go to parties you are 15. Do not get near guys at night and alcohol and drugs. BE AT HOME, and if you are not you are liable to be a victim instead of a participant.

I never said a word to you in that thread or you to me. But I remembered your posts and your final statement. LOL. So when I saw you tearing people apart on the next article and calling names, demeaning, generalizing everyone and the "Patch" with your filthy statements I had to remind you of your "Post" that everyone was being mean to you. Especially that the "Patch" needed take care of it for you **Tearing up** Still prior to that message I had never addressed you or paid any attention to your posts. Then when I do nicely remind you of your post about name calling etc. you have went all crazy on me and now include me as one of the people you lash out at? Is this all normal behavior for you for the last month? I have more class in my little finger then to lash out at you or anyone else about them, or their life or children as you have to me and others here. I was thinking along the lines of actual murders that some of these kids and teenagers carry out. With premeditation better then alot of adults. I also know from raising half a dozen daughters and some of their friends(ugh) and being close enough to talk about everything that some girls are extremely devious and learn quick that pre-sex, sex, will get them alot. In alot of circumstances its drugs, attention from friends, other boys, and if it doesnt work out for the girl the way she wants it WATCH OUT. Text and facebook burns up with pictures, statements from other kids on who what where and it gets really bad the vindictiveness. In the noteriety, peer thing, and oftentimes severe cases of hypersexuality which goes along with personality disorders, bi-polar some teenagers only suffer from during high school. Seriously you watch any of these shows these girls watch and what do they learn? Teen Moms, deviousness, tricking boys, sex, sex, going from one partner to another after they have the baby, and it just goes on and on. Any woman knows that sex can be used as a tool and some girls even see their parents use that. These girls from the first day of school each year fall in love, head over heels with men teachers and proclaim it to all their friends, and the means they try to get his attention.
