Fight With Burglar Leads to Arrest

Two were arrested on suspicion of being connected to a burglary a homeowner interrupted.

A Temecula homeowner found his home being burglarized, fought and detained one of the suspects, an official said.

The suspects, a 15-year-old and a 16-year-old whose names were withheld, were arrested around 9 p.m. Tuesday.

The victims were on the first floor of their home in the 39800 block of Creative Drive when they heard noises coming from an upstairs bedroom, according to sheriff's Sgt. Keith Knotek.

The man of the couple went upstairs and came face-to-face with the suspects.

"A brief struggle ensued, at which time one of the suspects was
detained by the homeowner," the sergeant stated in a report on the crime. "The other suspect fled through the house and into the backyard," jumping a fence and disappearing into the night.
