Three people were injured Thursday in a two-car crash on Interstate 15 in Temecula that prompted lane closures and snarled traffic for more than an hour.
The crash happened about 9:45 a.m. on the southbound 15 near Rancho California Road, according to the California Highway Patrol.
Riverside County fire crews arrived within minutes and found two people trapped. The victims were pulled out by 10:25 a.m., according to a country fire department spokeswoman.
The CHP shut down two traffic lanes until about 11 a.m. to facilitate the rescue and clear debris, clogging traffic for several miles.
The two rescued parties and one other person hurt in the crash were taken to a hospital with moderate injuries, according to the fire department.
