Gun Brandishing Leads to Chase

An Anza woman who allegedly pointed a handgun at her boyfriend led police on a low-speed chase.

A woman who allegedly pointed a handgun at her boyfriend and led deputies on a chase was behind bars today.

Anza resident Eva Fern Garcia, 28, was booked into the Larry D. Smith Correctional Faciity on felony charges of brandishing a gun, making terrorist threats, evading officers and on a misdemeanor charge of drunken driving. She was being held on $25,000 bail today, according to jail records.

Garcia allegedly pulled out the gun and pointed it at her boyfriend around 3:30 p.m. Thursday in the 53000 block of Highway 371 east of Temecula, according to sheriff's Deputy Angel Ramos.

The woman -- who had been drinking -- jumped in her vehicle and drove away when deputies arrived. Law enforcement chased her at a slow speed for about 15 minutes, but they eventually caught up and arrested her with no further resistance, Ramos said.
