Hiker Rescued After Falling 30 Feet

The man was lifted to safety and taken by ambulance to a hospital, Hagemann said.

Firefighters sent a helicopter today to rescue a hiker who fell about 30 feet down an embankment near Idyllwild, a county fire department spokeswoman said.

The male hiker was reported injured about 9 a.m. on Shadow Oak Trail near View Rock in Pine Cove, Riverside County Fire Department spokeswoman Jody Hagemann said. The man's injuries were described as "moderate."

The man was lifted to safety and taken by ambulance to a hospital, Hagemann said.
