He ran over a fire fighters foot, seemingly on purpose, was the story I had heard from word of mouth. I feel so badly for the fellow. When I read his name I knew right away it was the same man who had lost his home & animals in the fire. I hope they drop the charges down. I cannot imagine losing my home that way. It would be devastating.

The Buck Fire was an extremely fast moving & dangerous fire. Good himself said to a reporter how the winds moved the fire & every direction and how he had to "walk through a wall of fire" to escape. Firefighters put their lives on the line to save life & property. Good threatened their lives by refusing to listen & physically harming one with his vechile. That firefighter could be on disability for months or have his career ended by Good's actions. I understand the mental distress he was under but that does not in any way justify his actions.

Assault is assault, he will get his fair trial.

Not many details in this article, try to use your brain and hold off on convicting the guy without facts (I know that's hard). In an era when gov't is VERY aggressive towards average citizens - particularly when it comes to sanctified cops and firefighters - I wouldn't be so quick to jump to any conclusions.

Everyones comments make sense now of what "might" have happened. Its very sad if its true for both this man and the fire fighter. I know how it feels to be in the middle of a fire and wanting to get the hell out but also wanting to get my animals and other important things. But the bottom line is yourself and family. It does seem a bit drastic to arrest him and charge him, but he could have run over the whole MAN. I imagine by trial it will be pled down and wont go to a trial because I cannot imagine a jury of 12 would all convict him. The entire situation is just sad sad. :/ Sometmes our animals are all we have.

Don the article also mentions the young girl who was hit a few months ago and evidently she is still recovering from serious head injuries and had surgery. I remember the family did not want her name released and I pray she is doing better as every day goes by. You will see a few links there for bike accidents, and riders comments that went on at the meeting. I think its great but seems they could get that amount of bike lanes done sooner then a 5 yr plan. Heck we can buy the paint if they supply the man on the painter thingie. Its a start though.

If I were a firefighter who had his foot run over by an irate man I would want to see him punished.
Sighthoundma August 19, 2012 at 05:32 PM
He was the gentleman who came into the Red Cross center in tears as reported by the Patch when the fire first hit whose Scottish Deerhounds had gone missing while he was spraying water on his home. Does anyone have an update on these gentle giants?
Brenda August 19, 2012 at 08:09 PM
Sight, it is a very sad story. I know he posted himself on one of the articles about the fire and about his dogs missing. I wonder if there are groups out there yet trying to find animals and round them up? I also wonder if his dogs were in the trailer or out in a fenced yard? I have to admit if that was all I had in the world was my dogs I might be in just a state to try to get up there to get them. I might have made a bigger circle to get around the fireman, but the pups that is a tough call on what I would do. I know how much I love my dogs now with family around me, but if I was alone and that was all the family I had............................I really don't think they should bother him with charges, but then the fireman part is assault and if its injured bad that is kind of a different story. But if its not injured bad, gosh can we just forget about it?..............

I would have moved my foot....
Brenda August 20, 2012 at 08:08 PM
LOLOLOL MACGill And isnt that the dang truth right? Knowing how arrogant some, a very that is, police or firemen can be, I could see him standing there with his foot in the way saying "go ahead up there and run over my foot on the way so we can arrest you"! I know I would have moved my dang foot, cant believe none of us thought of that before, LOL. That even makes a better case for Mr. Good, when the Defense simply asks "Why didnt you just move your foot sir under those horribly emotional times for this man and be the bigger and more emotionally stable person at the time, after all he did just find out his house was burned to the ground and possibly his dogs also?"
Jo Mama August 20, 2012 at 08:30 PM
He was wearing steel toe boots.
Brenda August 20, 2012 at 10:01 PM
That would make sense Mama.
Susan August 21, 2012 at 10:37 AM
meanwhile I hope he's been bailed out. I'm sure running over the FF foot was an accident and it's not right to report that it was. If it's not dropped it's an outrage in a city that gives 4 year sentences for killing someone.
Papa August 21, 2012 at 04:45 PM
Does anyone know the status of his dogs, I hope someone was able to corral them and have them safe and sound somewhere. I know it would be a comfort to Mr. Good
Susan August 21, 2012 at 05:11 PM
That and a cake with a file in it. ;)~ O'h and TVOR are you originally from New York or just born uncompassionate and kinda mean. Who wants to see people suffer? Hmmm... what would Jesus do?
Susan August 21, 2012 at 05:23 PM
OK I think I apologize for that....lol kinda harsh on my part and I got the New York thing from Terms of Endearment...lol I'm just sayin'. Do try to avoid any Jury Duty please. ;)
Susan August 21, 2012 at 05:24 PM
HA! the message i'm talking about is pending so you all have no idea what I'm babbling on about.
Susan August 21, 2012 at 05:57 PM
OK here it is. Let's see if it's pending again...lol Not like it's all that important but.....That and a cake with a file in it. ;)~ O'h and TVOR are you originally from New York or just born uncompassionate and kinda mean. Who wants to see people suffer? Hmmm
Susan August 21, 2012 at 05:59 PM
O'h wow I know what made the first one pending. Sadly it was the word J.e.s.u.s. Figures :/
Brenda August 21, 2012 at 10:28 PM
Agree Susan completely. Drink and drive, kill an innocent Mom, Dad, child, free food for 4 yrs, get out go back to same ole happy drunken life. Run over firemans foot and still probably in jail if he doesnt have anyone to bail him out. Speaking of which that bail of 30k is ridiculous. Remember the off duty sheriff killing the man for no reason in the bar up on Murrieta Hot springs road I think it was? His bail was 50k I believe. Hope my memory is correct on that one, or it was someone who murdered someone and it was 50k and I thought that was so little an amount for murder compared to what other murder's get. This man ran over a FF foot and his bail is 30k? Also he has been arriagned by now, wonder what happened?
Renee Davis August 21, 2012 at 10:45 PM
My name is Renee and I'm with the Scottish Deerhound Club of America. I'm in San Diego. We posted flyers with the shelters and vets yesterday, hoping for feed stores and pet stores later today. There has been no sighting of the dogs, but if anyone does sight them please email me at roundofappaws@sbcglobal.net. Anyone wishing for a phone number can email me too. Hoping for an article in the paper to give out info. Any help appreciated! If anyone goes in the area and looks they are the size and body build of a greyhound with short crisp grey coat, kinda like a wolfhound. They only knew their owner, so call animal control or email me if sighted. Greg had his hearing this morning, still waiting to hear the outcome. Very sad story.
Brenda August 21, 2012 at 11:08 PM
Oh Lord, thank you Renee for the update. I pray someone has his dogs somewhere. Unless they were in a fenced yard or in the house however there will not be alot of hope. I do not live close to where the fire was and cannot be much help other then my prayers for this man. I cannot even begin to know how sad and devastated he must be. I am glad he has someone like you in his corner Renee, God bless you.
TVOR August 27, 2012 at 02:37 AM
What did I say that was mean?
TVOR August 27, 2012 at 02:39 AM
Being upset (and rightfully so) does not give a person the right to assault a public servant or any other person for that matter.
TVOR August 27, 2012 at 02:40 AM
So you think people from New York are automatically mean? Fuhgetaboutit!
TVOR August 30, 2012 at 02:23 AM
Susan, seriously, I want to know what I said that you think is mean.
Papa August 30, 2012 at 03:01 AM
I believe she might be referring to the lack of compassion shown for a man who lost his home and family( to you they are just dogs, I guess) but to Mr .Cook they are his family and he was probably in an emotional state of mind worried about them and didn't realize what he had done, not an excuse but certainly understandable.
TVOR August 31, 2012 at 03:08 AM
Admittedly I showed no compassion for Mr. Cook. This wasn't because I have no compassion for him, I surely do. The thing is it simply wasn't part of the point I was making at the time.
