Man Drives Off Cliff, Arrested

An Anza man who was reported swerving all over the roadway and causing havoc on Highway 371 crashed down a cliff and was arrested.

A man who allegedly was swerving all over Highway 371 crashed off a cliff in Anza and was arrested today.

The CHP got several reports of the man driving recklessly down the highway starting at around 12:45 p.m., according to a CHP log.

He hit a support cable for a telephone pole around 1:20 p.m., which sent him over the edge of a cliff, according to Officer Jeff Oldham.

The driver was rushed to the hospital, where he was cited and released on suspicion of driving drunk. The roads were not closed, and the suspects name was not released, Oldham said.
