Man Falls in Fire Pit, Seriously Injured

A man was flown to Arrowhead Burn Center after falling into a fire pit.

A man who fell into a fire pit at his Aguanga home Friday was airlifted to an out-of-county burn center.

The incident occurred shortly before 10:30 p.m. and the victim was being taken to a local hospital by a woman who decided to stop in Temecula to call emergency dispatchers for help, fire Capt. Scott Piccini said.

“He is in serious condition and has burns to his right hand, thigh and leg,” Piccini said.

“We decided to fly him to Arrowhead Regional Medical Center.”

The man also suffered second-and-third-degree burns to his right side, the captain said.

The helicopter landed on Wolf Store Road, prompting the closure of the road between Mahlon Vail Circle and Butterfield Stage Road. The road was closed for about 30 minutes, Patch learned at the scene.
