Man in Crash Hospitalized

A man was sideswiped in his car and rushed to the hospital.

A man was sideswiped while driving on Technology Drive and rushed to the hospital Monday.

The victim, Adam Lucky, 23, was driving west on Technology Drive in his father’s 1992 Cadillac Eldorado just before 7:30 p.m. at Winchester Road when a white Toyota Tacoma heading north slammed into the passenger’s side.

Lucky’s face was badly cut, according to witnesses, but otherwise, he seemed healthy.

“I think he’s okay. I saw him before they took him,” said John Lucky, the victim’s father, who was at the scene after the crash.

Two adults, a toddler and an infant were in the truck when it crashed. They sat on the sidewalk, shaken, while the California Highway Patrol cleared debris off the road. The adults declined to talk about the crash.

Though the cause is uncertain, witnesses said the truck ran a red light, and it is being investigated as an accident, said CHP Officer Randy Cooper.

“It looks like that’s the case, but I do not know for a fact yet,” the officer said.

The victim is an instructor at Valley Fit Boot Camp and a former football player at Murrieta Valley High School, his father said. “He’s taken some hits, but never with that much glass.”

Taking care of the Eldorado was the victim’s father’s hobby, said Chuck Piecukonis, the victim’s neighbor. “He’s had that caddie forever, kept it in cherry condition,” he said.

The intersection was clear around 9 p.m., according to a CHP dispatcher, and an investigation is ongoing.
