Man Tries To Rob Temecula Denny's; Cashier Foils His Attempt

The suspect is described as a white male adult in his early to mid-20s, approximately 5'10" tall, having a slightly husky build and short dark hair.

Police are asking the public’s help in finding a man who tried to rob the Denny’s restaurant on Rancho California Road near Old Town Temecula Thursday afternoon.

The failed robbery took place shortly before 4 p.m. at the popular eatery.

According to a report from Sgt. Steve Fredericks of the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department, the man brandished what appeared to be a dark-colored replica handgun and attempted to grab cash from a register but was thwarted when the female cashier grabbed his arm and screamed.

“The unsuccessful suspect was chased by customers as he fled on foot through the restaurant's front doorway. He was able to escape prior to police arrival,” Fredericks explained.

Evidence was recovered at the scene, and investigators are pursuing leads in order to identify and apprehend the suspect, the sergeant said.
