Man Who Triggered Neighborhood Lockdown Behind Bars

A neighborhood in eastern Temecula was locked down as law enforcers chased down a suspect.

A man who fled from police, causing a neighborhood to be locked down on Thursday, was behind bars today.

Jesse Robert Kudrik, 25, was arrested on Sunday around 4 p.m. on suspicion of conspiracy to commit a felony and on three felony and two misdemeanor drug charges, according to jail records.

He was booked into Robert Presley Detention Center in Riverside without bail.

Temecula deputies formed a perimeter in the neighborhood of Humber Drive around 11 p.m. on Thursday after locating Kudrik, who was wanted on an outstanding warrant, according to sheriff's Deputy Alberto Martinez.

Deputies formed a perimeter around the area and ordered the man to surrender, according to a resident of the neighborhood.

They "told everyone over a loud speaker to lock (their) doors and windows and stay inside," said Mary Parent, who lives in the area. "They announced a man's name and told him he was surrounded and to surrender."

Investigators then searched homes with a bloodhound, Parent said. "We had two sheriffs come to our door to announce they were going to check our yard along with the dog," she said.

Kudrik got away, and he was at large until Sunday, when an anonymous tip led investigators to the corner of Rancho California and Ynez roads, where they found and arrested him, Martinez said.
