A nativity scene allegedly stolen from a Temecula neighborhood has been recovered, police are reporting.

A suspected thief who struck early Dec. 7 in the Temecula neighborhood of Harveston made off with the holiday decor, and a Facebook campaign was underway to get the items back to the rightful owners.

On Dec. 13, officers assigned to the Temecula Police Department Problem Oriented Policing Team received information on the possible whereabouts of the missing scene.

"POP officers responded to an address in the 22000 block of Sparkle Dr., Canyon Lake. Their investigation revealed the nativity scene at the location belonged to the victim in this case. The property was returned to the victim and additional follow-up investigation is being conducted," according to a report from sheriff's Sgt. Chris Gaskins.
