Motorcycle Rider Injured in Temecula Freeway Crash

The crash on the southbound Interstate 15, between Rancho California Road and Temecula Parkway, was reported at about 3:20 p.m.

A motorcycle rider suffered injuries and was taken to a hospital Saturday, following the crash of his BMW bike on I-15 in Temecula, officials said.

The crash on the southbound freeway, between Rancho California Road and Temecula Parkway, was reported at about 3:20 p.m., according to the CHP incident log.

A California Highway Patrol officer at the scene told Patch that the rider was traveling at freeway speeds, when traffic ahead of him slowed abruptly.

He lost control, his bike overturned and he was thrown off, the CHP officer told Patch.

His injuries were described as minor to moderate.

Preliminary investigation did not indicate alcohol or drug use by the rider.

Good Lord, hope you are ok. One thing about inexperienced riders is they do not know how to brake abruptly. Saw one do this, but he was speeding, and he panic'd when he saw a car turn way in front of him(he thought with his speed he would hit it), so he slammed on front(wrong)and back brake(wrong) hit the ground and slid further then the bike did. He ended up not having a valid license, revoked, and no insurance, and alot of big road rash. Even experienced one can do it, endo or lay it down. With even just 65-70 freeway speeds you are a lucky young man to be ok kiddo and can we hope you wont ride again? :) I know I will catch flack for that, but just an ole lady who has seen to much and would rather you build a big safety cage around you and your bike.

brenda, how do you know that improper braking was a contributing factor to this accident, or that the driver was inexperienced? could it be a simple case of HUA, which is the cause of most rear enders, even with riders, or drivers of automobiles for that matter? take care brenda.

Here we go again , the conditioning of the masses with the standard parrot comment "Preliminary investigation did not indicate alcohol or drug use by the rider". Comments like this remind me of religion which is crowd control of the gullible masses. Oh ! the driver must be drunk . Oh! the drive was drinking . etc etc etc .. Our Bureaucratic controllers never stop their misuse of reality ...... Still lets not forget this is called "The land of the free" what ever that means....

Front brake is approximately 70% of the braking power on a motorcycle, so his (your example) use of both was proper, just ill timed. Slamming on both would definitely have put that other guy in an uncontrollable slide/drop/whatever. Good riders always assume an attack from any direction might be coming and leave themselves a way out. Always assume that traffic will stop abruptly, or that someone will merge into you.

read about the BMW 1000rr it has antilock and traction control do some homework, lastly I was following my GF to check out a house, I don't normally take the 15S and exit those exits that stop instantly, I was down shifting looking at my gauges right when I looked up I saw her tail lights, I thought 1 I can swerve and most likely go down or truck in the bike keep a straight track and get the most out of the breaking. Luckily I am an avid skydiver and have been taught how to THINK during critical situations. the bottom line is did I want it bad? or horrible? well I chose bad. shit happens I am very thankful to be alive. Lastly I am very sorry to all of those who were driving that time that route and had to slow because of this. I actually told CHP "hey man can you have traffic speed up because if I were these peeps I'd be pissed" hahhaa

I would just like to say Thank you Lord that my son made it out of this accident alive. This could have had a tragic outcome. I am overwhelmed with gratitude.

Been riding 13 years, 4 bikes myself, and never an accident. Not knowing a road is no excuse. Sucks that it happened, but basic speed law applies all the time. Running out of distance and time while glancing down at your gauges just says you were following too close for the speed you were going, John (Freeburg?).

@ that temecula guy regarding the following too close. you are completely correct! as well as my riding gear choices. Freeburg? hmmm I'm assuming you know my dad :) my last name is marton my step dad is Freeburg. curious who I am talking with now :) @Mrs. MacGillicuttie what are you talking about?
