New Temecula Valley Fire Station To Open Monday

A celebration is planned Monday to mark the activation of a fire station intended to increase emergency services available in the Temecula Valley.

Riverside County Supervisor Jeff Stone will join fire Cal Fire/Riverside County Fire Department Chief John Hawkins for the grand opening of the Glen Oaks Fire Station #96 located at 37700 Glen Oaks Road at the edge of Temecula's city limits.

"The citizens of Glen Oaks deserve this new fire station for their community," Hawkins said. "The firefighters also need a station that provides them with adequate room to train, maintain their equipment, rest and respond to the needs of the community. We are very pleased to be dedicating this beautiful new fire station."

The 9,624-square-foot facility replaces a temporary station constructed in 2008 to service the area.

The $4.7 million station, funded using impact fees collected from real estate developers, will be staffed by eight firefighters, 24 hours a day. In addition to docking bays for fire engines, the building has a kitchen, dining room, dormitory and office space.
