Police searched the scene and found no evidence, no blood and no signs of a struggle. No witnesses turned up, and a bloodhound was able to pick up only the victim's scent, according to sheriff's Sgt. Kevin McDonald.

"We don't have a whole lot to go on at this point," the sergeant said.

The victim was hospitalized, but the wound was deemed superficial, and she was released a short time later.

The suspect was described as a Hispanic man 5-foot-11 inches tall wearing dark sweat pants and a gray sweater with the hood pulled tight around his face.

Anybody with information was asked to call the Temecula Police Station at 951-696-3000.

My neighbor said she talked to a policeman who was parked in her driveway during the search. He said the stabbing occurred in a house, and that the man had stolen a car and was caught.
