Police Arrest Man for Attempted Murder

The incident reportedly occurred during a party at a residence in the unincorporated area of Temecula.

Police arrested a 32-year-old man on charges of attempted murder early Saturday morning, after responding to an accidental shooting call in the unincorporated area of Temecula, according to officials.

The incident reportedly occurred in the 31700 block of Umbria Lane shortly after 4 a.m. during a party with about 10 people. The suspect, Shawn Steward, had an argument with the female victim at the residence and she was shot once, Riverside County sheriff's Sgt. Kevin McDonald said.

The victim was transported by ambulance to a local hospital. Her injuries are not considered to be life threatening, McDonald said.

The investigation is ongoing. Police are encouraging anyone with information about this case to contact Riverside County Sheriff’s Investigator Jerry Franchville at the Southwest Station at 951-696-3000.

What kind of a party takes place at 4AM in the morning?! Tip to investigator, Jerry Franchville - Possibly a few of the other ten people at the house might make good witnesses??

I think the 911 call was reported as an accident then the police felt otherwise.
