UPDATED: Police Surround Temecula Residence in Response to Alleged Threats

Officers and a helicopter crew were dispatched at 3:49 p.m. Friday to a residence in the area of Rancho California Road and Humber Drive regarding a man who had made threats to someone, according to Deputy Albert Martinez.

UPDATE 6:16 p.m. Jan. 24, 2014:

The man was safely taken into custody at about 5:30 p.m. and would be taken for a mental evaluation, Deputy Albert Martinez of the Riverside County Sheriff's Department said.

He said the manner of threats allegedly made by the man were still unclear, but that the man may have been intoxicated.

Temecula police surrounded a residence Friday afternoon when a man allegedly made threats that were unspecified as of publication time.

Officers were dispatched at 3:49 p.m. to a residence in the area of Rancho California Road and Humber Drive, according to Deputy Albert Martinez with the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department.

“He made threats to someone at the house,” Martinez said. 

As of publication time, he did not have further information about the nature of the threats.

Martinez confirmed a sheriff’s helicopter was also dispatched as part of the effort to get the man safely out of the residence.

As of 4:45 p.m., Martinez said authorities were still on scene.
