Police: Temecula School Graffitied With Vulgar Words, Images

Temecula police responded to James L. Day Middle School at 7:40 a.m. Saturday to find "numerous buildings on the schools property spray-painted with vulgar graphic images and offensive words."

Police are trying to determine who may be responsible for graffiti that consisted of vulgar and graphic words and images at a Temecula school campus.

The alleged vandalism was discovered Saturday morning at James L. Day Middle School, 40775 Camino Campos Verdes, Temecula police Lt. Greg Negron stated in a news release.

Officers responded to the campus at 7:40 a.m. and "observed numerous buildings on the schools property spray-painted with vulgar graphic images and offensive words," Negron stated.

The extent of damage to school property was still being determined as of Monday, but authorities estimated it was at least $3,000 worth.

The school was closed for the weekend when the vandalism occurred.

Employees with the district's maintenance and operations department painted over the graffiti in time for students to return to campus Monday, according to Temecula Valley Unified School District Spokeswoman Melanie Norton.
