Possibly Drug-Related Crash Closes Roads

Sections of Margarita Road were closed and a man was allegedly overdosing on heroin.

Roads were closed and a man was treated for overdosing on heroin at the scene of a crash today.

Two vehicles crashed around 4 p.m. today at Winchester and Margarita roads, according to Riverside County Sheriff's Department dispatchers.

Westbound traffic on Winchester Road was closed, and Margarita was closed in both directions in front of the grocery store.

A passenger in one of the vehicles was treated at the scene for overdosing on heroin, according to a sheriff's deputy on the scene.

The cause of the crash was unknown this afternoon.

I was exiting Lowes onto margarita heading north as several police cars raced by, all the lanes were blocked with cars heading north on Margarita the black car pictured above was the only car in the lane closest to the center divider to turn left as the cop car pulled up quickly behind him he tried to get out of the way and was basically forced into on-coming traffic, a truck headed east on Winchester crashed right into the black car. I saw it all happen! The only thing that I was confused about is a man in a red shirt running from the police right after the accident. It wasn't the driver of the car because he was still in the car as a police man patted his back while awaiting the arrival of the ambulance.

I was sitting in the lobby of Ramona Tire when this all happened. The black car was ot forced into the intersection, the guy in the red shirt was in fact driving the car, fled after crashing, and was arrested outside Ramona Tire, after fighting with the officer. I don't know the details of what you saw, but this is my account of what I saw.

Tristen you may be right about not being forced into traffic, I didn't realize they were chasing the black car because he wasn't moving quickly but are you sure that was the driver? I was the second car to pass the scene, I headed to McDonalds and I was watching the officer patting someone hunched over in the drivers seat... I just hope next time they request over head assistance to avoid endangering the public.

I am 100% sure I saw the guy with the red shirt get out of the black car's driver seat and run. The public was in more danger with this guy on the streets of our beautiful city. I talked to a friend that saw this guy drive on the wrong side of the road and almost hit several cars with children inside! I personally am glad the police caught him. I give kudos to our local law enforcement.

this was my girlfriends car and that bastard stole it from our work last week, i cant believe he was stupid enough to still be driving the car a week later! and in the same clothes!!! did you think you weren't going to get caught!! all i can say is thank you to the driver in the dodge ram for smashing into him and thank you to the police for doing an awesome job and putting that piece of crap in jail, where he clearly belongs!! all we wanted was for him to be caught, so once again thank you to the police involved, we could not be happier that he is going to be put away.

before he smashed up on winchester he veered off of Margarita onto honors with cops following in hot persuit he banked a quick right then another right onto our street Links , not knowing it was a dead end-he somehow booked a U-ey at the end and continued the other way down Links ct and back onto Margarita towards Winchester where he met his demise-whew-- glad there weren't any kids out playing in the culdesac!!!

Matt!!!!! yay they saved you the trouble of having to beat the crap outta him! haha... i do give kudos to these officers for catching the scumbag, but my issue with this situation is: HE DROVE IT AROUND FOR A WEEK JUST A FEW BLOCKS AWAY FROM WHERE HE STOLE IT AND IN THE SAME CLOTHES!!!!!!!!!! it took a week to find it?? really???
Jodi July 24, 2011 at 03:45 AM
