Probationer Arrested During Sex Registrant Check in San Jacinto

A convicted sex offender suspected of failing to register his home address was arrested in San Jacinto, according to the Riverside County Sheriff's Department.

Sheriff's deputies on Friday went to the 300 block of Grand Army to check whether Jesse Martin Talamantez, 43, was complying with his court-ordered home registration requirement.

Deputies determined Talamantez, a probationer, was living at his home in violation of the court-order, as well as having drug paraphernalia, sheriff's authorities said.

News about Talamantez's arrest wasn't made public until today. Talamantez was arrested and booked on suspicion of two counts of failing to register as a sex offender, violating his probation and misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia. He remained in custody today in lieu of $25,000 bail, jail records showed.
