Update 11:54 p.m.:

A vehicle and outbuilding burned Thursday in Temecula's Wine Country, with flames extending into a double-wide mobile home, Cal Fire reported.

The fire was reported at 10:50 p.m., Cal Fire's Melody Hendrickson said.

A propane tank leaking gas caught fire Thursday but no injuries were immediately reported.

The fire was reported about 11 p.m. in the 37900 block of Mesa Road.

According to scanner chatter, a second propane tank was nearby and firefighters were concerned that it would explode if touched by flames.

Mesa Road was closed to traffic as firefighters stayed at the scene, waiting for the gas to burn off, scanner chatter indicated.

Well, what is the police helicopter doing, then?
Christine fagan October 19, 2012 at 07:11 AM
Exactly, that was my thought

I am not sure heli's can drop chemicals on active leaking propane? I could be wrong but I do think they have to wait for it to burn itself all out. They might be able to put down stuff in a circle around where it is burning so it doesnt cross over.........hmm but it still will with sparks. So I think all they can really do is watch it burn. :/ Propane fires are bad bad news and most everything is always lost from them. Sad, sounds like this family lost home and the car, and I hope their insurance was up todate.

No, that was not a water dropping helicopter, that was a police helicopter with a search light. The way it was flying was not like it was going to a water source and back... he was looking for someone.

He was looking for a red jeep in the hills that they suspected of being involved in this fire somehow. Per the scanner feed last night.

Ahhh... thanks for the update.

This incident SCREAMS meth lab explosion. I seen the explosion and then the police chopper. I watched it from about 1 mile away and then called the police to find out what was going on. They said that nothing had been reported. Then I called my friend this morning, a Temecula Sheriff and he said there was no report. Something stinks!!!
Deb October 19, 2012 at 05:02 PM
It was all over the scanner. The men on scene said something about the red older jeep being a suspect at starting the fire and sent the helicopter up to look for it. Originally, they said 2 victims - but thankfully that did not come to fruition. Sounded like it was started by the propane tank - not inside a structure.

Randy your a fucking prick! Somebody should arrest your ass for being an inconsiderate, ignorant, douchebag! These are some truly good people - senior citizens who have just been victimized and your trying to smut them up and say foul shit about something that has just taken their home all of their belongings and their vehicle! Why don't you do the human race a favor and shut your fucking mouth.

Thank you Jane! How dare you randy run your mouth before you know anything! And let alone an elderly persons home. How would you feel if your house burned down and people said you were running a meth lab? And your "friends" were politely telling you to mind your own business.

oralia-a douchbag is like an i.v. bag-it has cleaning fluid in it and a nozzle on the other end to stick up a vagina and flush it out.

It's terrible, we drive by the property to get to our house and feel so bad for the couple that live there:( it's always two elderly people at what's little left of the fences and sheds. The property was VERY well taken care of before the tragedy. Hope they can rebuild their lives as soon as possible.
