Riverside County Sheriff Promotes Busby to Captain

A 22-year RivCo Sheriff's Department veteran, Temecula's Virginia Busby is promoted to Captain, and faces new assignment.

Riverside County Sheriff Stan Sniff has promoted Lieutenant Virginia Busby to the rank of Captain, effective December 29, 2011.  

Busby, who lives in Temecula, is a 22-year veteran of the Riverside County Sheriffs Department.  Upon her promotion, she will become Commander of the Professional Standards Bureau.  

The Professional Standards Bureau conducts internal affairs, risk management and specialized investigations, at the direction of the Department. Captain Busby replaces Captain Patricia Knudson who was recently assigned command of the Robert Presley Detention Center.

Sheriff Sniff said, in a press release, "This promotion is well-deserved, Captain Busby has worked in varied assignments within the Department including patrol, jail, courts and the Ben Clark Training Center and has been successful at each and every one of them. The experience she has gained will serve her well at her new assignment." 

Busby was promoted to Sheriff’s Lieutenant in 2005, and served as the Department’s Academy and Training Manager at the Ben Clark Training Center.  She also served as a Lieutenant at the Moreno Valley station, and most recently at the Southwest Station.
