Second Sex Abuse Case Emerges

Charges from a separate 1998 incident were added to charges stemming from the alleged molestation of a girl he was coaching in gymnastics.

Charges stemming from a separate incident in 1998 were added to the case of a Temecula dentist accused of molestation.

David Martinus Reiakvam, 43, could face around 50 years in prison if convicted of sexual penetration of a child with a foreign object, oral copulation of a child under 16 years old, and two counts each of oral copulation of a child younger than 18 and lewd acts on a child younger than 14.

No further details were available on the second case.

Reiakvam appeared before Riverside County Superior Court Judge Richard Fields, who granted a prosecution motion to combine the two separate cases filed against the defendant last December.

One case involves the alleged sexual abuse of a girl, whose identity was not released, between November 1998 and November 2000.
The second case lists alleged acts of molestation of another unnamed victim between January 2000 and December 2001.

Reiakvam, who runs Reiakvam Family and Cosmetic Dentistry at 28910 Rancho California Road, remains free on $150,000 bail.

The doctor was arrested last Nov. 2 following an investigation by the Riverside Police Department's sex crimes unit.

According to Detective Wayne Ramaekers, the defendant coached gymnastics at a privately owned facility in Riverside and "had an alleged sexual relationship with an ... athlete while residing in Riverside."

At the time of Reiakvam's arrest, the second alleged victim had not yet come forward, resulting in two separate complaints being filed by the District Attorney's Office.

Court records indicate the defendant had only one prior brush with the law, for traffic violations in 2008.
