Semi Truck Hits, Kills Pedestrian in Temecula

A pedestrian was fatally struck by a tractor- trailer on the southbound Temecula Valley (15) Freeway in Temecula early Monday morning, a Riverside County Fire Department spokeswoman said.

The accident on the Temecula Valley Freeway south of Winchester Road was reported at 3:04 a.m., said Riverside County Fire Department spokeswoman Jody Hagemann.

"The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene," she said.

There was no immediate indication whether the pedestrian was male or female, nor why the person was walking along the freeway.

The California Highway Patrol was investigating the death, Hagemann said.
