Sex Offender Goes Missing, Police On Lookout

Police asked anyone with information on Anthony Wayne Wilkins' whereabouts to call Detective Julie Barnes at (760) 839-4758.

Police in Escondido and surrounding areas were on the lookout today for a paroled registered sex offender who removed his GPS ankle bracelet and failed to update his registration, a lieutenant said.

Anthony Wayne Wilkins, 40, absconded from his parole and remained at large, Escondido police Lt. Neal Griffin said in a statement. He has a history of irrational behavior and should be considered dangerous, he said.

Griffin said Wilkins is a transient, but is known to frequent the vicinity of Centre City Parkway and state Route 78.
