Sheriff's Deputy Injured in Temecula Crash

A Riverside County sheriff's deputy was recovering Thursday from injuries suffered when his motorcycle collided with a van in Temecula.

The crash happened around 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at the intersection of Bedford Court and Temecula Parkway, according to sheriff's Sgt. Steve Fredericks.

He said the deputy, who was on traffic patrol at the time of the collision on the eastbound side of Temecula Parkway, "sustained moderate to severe injuries" but was expected to make a full recovery.

The California Highway Patrol was investigating the collision. The agency's assistance is requested by the sheriff's department any time one of its on-duty personnel is involved in a crash.
